Frequently Asked Questions

1.   What are the CCJSA Knock Out and Consolation Cups?

The Cups are a great opportunity for teams that don't show their full potential during the league games.

For FIFA (including Girls) players, CCJSA Knock Out and Consolation Cup games start when league games end.

Fixtures are arranged with a random selection of teams or Cup Draw.  The Cup Draw for each round, up to the Final, are made later in the year at a CCJSA meeting.  Teams drawn first for each game are designated the home team and the game is played at their pitch.

The rules of the Cups Competitions are subject to review each year with the following rules currently applied to players:

  • Must qualify by age.
  • Cannot transfer to another team or club in their own age group.
  • Cannot play for more than 1 team in the same age group.
  • May play "up" but only for 1 team in their own club, this does not disqualify them from also playing in their usual team.
  • Provided they are of correct age, players may play "down", but only for one team in their own club, this does not disqualify them from playing in their usual team.
  • To be eligible for cup games a player must have played in 25% of games in the current CCJSA season.

Depending on the number of teams in the age group, some teams may have to compete in an Elimination game.  Where a game is shown as an Elimination game, the losing team takes no further part in either Winners or Consolation Cups.  Once the right number of teams remain for the Cup competition, winners in the first round go through to the CCJSA Knock Out competition and losers go through to the CCJSA Consolation Cup.  Then, each week, losers are eliminated until two teams meet in the Final on the 17th September.

Therefore, the FIFA season officially ends on 17th September with trophy presentation immediately after Cup Finals.

2. What is covered with junior players insurance?

See insurance for details of 2005 cover. (NB This is a pdf document.)

3. How do we determine age groups ? All clubs must use the birth year of the player to determine age. The school year is not in line with FFA guidelines and therefore it is not considered.

4. Jewellery - Players are not permitted to wear ANY jewellery on the pitch. Players can and may be asked to leave the pitch if they are wearing jewellery. No taping is allowed you HAVE to take it off. The rare and only exeption to this rule is MEDIC ALERT bracelets, for obvious reasons these are permitted but must be taped with the disk visible.Girls who wear their hair tied back or use clips must use soft hair bands and non decorative chunky be-jewelled clips. Stay away from any metalic or hard hair accessories.

Assist youngsters to learn and enjoy soccer.   The laws of the game, sportsmanship and a fair go for all.
